SOTV Cub Scout Age Religious Emblems
The Protestant God and Country Religious Emblems classes will be held at Shepherd of the Valley STARTING FEBRUARY 23, 2020 for Jesus and Me (NEW!!), God and Me or God and Family.
K-1st grades Jesus and Me CLASSES START FEB 23, 2020 (NEW class offering for youngest children)
1st-3rd grade God and Me CLASSES START FEB 23, 2020
4th-6th grade God and Family CLASSES START FEB 23, 2020
A child who has earned one religious emblem may earn another one. Of special note, Webelos II Cub Scouts can complete and earn their God and Family even though they will have crossed into Scouts BSA before it is over – because it is based on their school grade, not their Scout rank.
Please help us spread the word within your units. Parents of Girl Scouts or American Heritage Girls, please share this announcement with any groups your daughters may be members of – We don't have any other effective way to communicate with Girl Scouts or American Heritage Girls units. Non-Scouting siblings are also invited, to deepen their faith along with their Scout siblings.
As always, you do NOT need to be a member of Shepherd of the Valley or a Lutheran in order to participate in the God and Country program offered at SOTV. Most of last year's children did not attend SOTV, and children from several Protestant denominations took the classes. The God and Country program at the Cub Scout level is basic enough that both Protestants and Catholics have attended the classes. The God and Country program has been developed to lead all children – Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Girl Scouts and American Heritage Girls of all ages – to an age appropriate better understating of the importance of God in our personal and family lives. A good overview of each class is in the attachment.
If you have any questions please feel free to call or email Bob Elliott. He would be happy to come to a Pack or Troop meeting to explain the God and Country program to the parents in your unit if you would like him to.
